Swim Lessons

Swim Lessons are available throughout the summer for youth beginning at age 18 months. A list of classes and times can be found below. To register online for swim lessons, click here.

Parent and Toddler Swim

Description: Participants will be oriented to the water through bubble blowing, floating, and going underwater.  Individual attention will be given to each child and parent. One parent per child is required to be in the water. 
Age: 18 months & Older
Sessions Dates: Jun 19-23; Jul 10-14
Times: Mon-Fri, 11:00-11:30 am (rain make-up date is the following Monday at the same time)

Parent and Preschool Swim

Description: Participants will be introduced to skills such as placing their faces in the water, basic breathing control, front and back float assistance, beginning stroke assistance, and jumping in water. One parent per child is required to be in the water.
Age: 3-4 years old
Sessions Dates: Jun 19-23; Jul 10-14
Times: Mon-Fri, 11:30 am-12:00 pm (rain make-up date is the following Monday at the same time)

Learn to Swim Level I – Introduction to Swimming

Swimmers must be 5 years or older to participate. Emphasizes comfort in the water, good attitude, and safe practices in and around the water. Class objectives include putting face in the water, bobbing, front and back gliding with kick, and floating on back unassisted.

Learn to Swim Level II – Fundamental Water Skills

Prerequisite and Description: Swimmers must pass Level I or be completely comfortable in the water. The child will perform locomotion skills using both arms and legs on the front (crawl) and back (beginner backstroke). Other skills include rhythmic breathing, exploring and treading deeper water, demonstrating basic rescue skills, and basic CPR.

Learn to Swim Level III – Stroke Development

Prerequisite and Description:
Swimmers must pass Level II or be given permission. Emphasizes coordinating basic strokes with rhythmic breathing. Class objectives include elementary backstroke, reverse directions, submerging and retrieving objects in deep water, head-first entry, basic rescue skills, and basic CPR.

Junior Lifeguard Training

Prerequisite and Description: Swimmers must demonstrate competent swimming abilities. Emphasizes a development, appreciation, and interest in lifeguarding through interaction and assistance of current lifeguards. Training objectives include basic first aid and CPR along with lifeguard rescue techniques. 

Age: 12-15 years old
Sessions Dates: Jun 20-23
Times: 5:00-6:00 pm
