Responsibilities
The City Attorney:
- Advises and counsels the mayor, Board of Aldermen, and the City Administrator on matters of city business
- Revises and signs off on all contracts and agreements between the City of Branson and other parties
- Helps and advises on drafts of all ordinances and resolutions prepared by various city departments for the Board of Aldermen
- Prepares legal opinions
- Provides legal counsel and support to all departments within the City of Branson
- Oversees outside counsel on litigation involving the City of Branson
The City Attorney also serves as municipal prosecutor, working with all departments responsible for law enforcement and representing the city in all matters involving the prosecution of city ordinances and code violations in the municipal court through the trial and appeal stages.
