The Branson Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with the Branson Art Council to offer local home school students a chance to experience several different sports and learn about various art mediums. Sessions are 4 weeks long. Each week the student will have an hour of sports instruction and an hour of art class. See home school brochure for more details. 

Times: Thursdays, 12:30pm- 2:30pm
Dates: September - May (4 week sessions)
Ages:  5-12 year olds (Minimum of 15 students per session)
Fee:    $20 first child, $15 each additional child plus art supplies

Basic Dog Obedience Classes
Learn how to teach your dog to respond to basic commands and proper canine manners. Dogs must be at least five months old with proof of immunizations is required the first night of class (dogs do not attend the first class). If you have specific question regarding your pet and training, please call Tish at (417)-593-6024. Class sessions are six weeks and are limited to 10 enrollees. For more information or to enroll your fuzzy family member, call the Park's Department.

Babysitter's Training    ***NEW***
This interactive class designed by the Red Cross to train young people to care for children. This class will provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. All participants will receive a certification card upon completing the course. Participants should bring a sack lunch. Space is limited, so register early

Community Garage Sale

Are you looking for a bargain?  Want to get rid of some of your treasures?  Either way we have something for you.  Rent a booth space to sell your garage sale items at our spring and fall events. During our spring (May 12) garage sale, we will be accepting donated items for the Branson Dog Park to be sold at the garage sale. You can drop off donated items on Friday, May 11th from 8:00am-8:00pm. All proceeds will benefit the Branson Dog Park. Click on the form below and return it to the RecPlex to get signed up!

Disc Golf Tournament  
Compete as part of a regional tournament series at area disc golf courses in southwest Missouri.  Winners advance to state championships.  part of the Missouri Parks & Recreation Assc. Bluebird Championship Series. For additional information, including dates and locations, go to www.mopark.org

Junior Golf Clinic    *FREE*
Want to find out if you like golf?  Every summer junior golf clinics are held that serve to introduce kids to the game of golf.  This free, two-day clinic offers expert instruction from area professionals.  The first day, youth participants are taught the proper fundamentals of grip, stance, and correct swing techniques at the Ledgestone Golf course driving range. The second day the kids move to the Don Gardner Par 3 Course, where they put the skills that were taught the day before into action.  Limited space is available for this popular clinic. For more information please contact the RecPlex at 417-335-2368.

Children's Theatre Workshop
The Children's Theatre Workshop, in its 28th year, provides a week long experience in learning about the theatre.  This annual summer drama camp has been recognized as one of the best in the nation by the National Thespians Association.  Approximately 100 children will perform a live play before an audience by the time the program is over. This summer drama camp is for students 9-13 years old and one sessions is for 14-16 year old students.  Call the Branson Arts Council at 336-4255 to register.

Summer Sports Camps
 The Branson RecPlex will host two sports training camps for youth this summer.  A youth Football Camp will be offered July 25-29 from 5:30-7:30pm for youth ages 7 to 13 with a cost of $55.  Players will learn team skills, 7 on 7 passing, develop specialized skills while gaining discipline and leadership qualities. The second camp is a SPEED Sport Performance camp for training designed to enhance acceleration, power, strength, top end speed and agility.  This camp is offered from August 1-5 for a cost of $75.  For Junior High and High School students grades  7^th through 12^th   the camp runs from 9:00am to 11:30am.  For youth ages 7 to 13, the camp is offered from 5:30-7:30pm.  For more information go to www.athletesu.com or click on the sign up forms below.

Back to School Bash
Join us for the 6th Annual "Back to School Bash" on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the RecPlex. This free community event supplies backpacks filled with school supplies for local children & youth. It's a ton of family fun complete with giant inflatables, games, and free swimming. This event is hosted by the First Baptist Church of Branson with many community sponsors.

 3rd Annual Branson Mountain Man Triathlon
Perfect as a tune-up for the Iron Man competition or just want a challenge? Sign-up for our the second annual Branson Mountain Man triathlon.  Participants will complete a 400 yard swim in the AquaPlex pool, a 15.5 mile bike ride on the Ozark Mountain Highroad and 5K run down and back on Branson Hills Parkway.  For more information, call the RecPlex or click on the flyer below for more details.

Doggie Dive-In Swim

Bring your furry four legged friend to take a dip at the Branson Aquaplex and support the construction of a new dog park in Branson. Dogs can play fetch, wade around in the shallow are or jump off the diving board for the favorite toy. Owners are responsible for doggy messes and every dog must have at least one handler.  All dogs must be on a leash.

All proceeds from this event will go to support
the development of the Branson Dog Park

When: Monday, Sept 3 (Labor Day)

Fee:    Pre-Registration fee (by 8/31) is $6 and includes entry for one dog and one human companion.  $2/additional humans.  Registration at the gate is $8.

Mutt Strut Dog Run/Walk
Registration has begun for the 2nd Annual “Mutt Strut” set for Sat, Oct 13 at 2:00pm at the RecPlex.  This event offers participants an opportunity to walk with their dog for a one mile distance.  Festivities will also include a raffle, a doggie costume contest and the opportunity to take a professional picture with your dog.  All participants will receive a Mutt Strut t-shirt.  Fee is $20 in advance or $25 the day of the event. 

All proceeds from this event will go toward construction of a dog park in Branson.

Rotary Youth Fishing Tournament
Have a great time fishing and learning the concept of catch and release. An annual kids fishing tournament is hosted by the Branson Daybreakers Rotary Club. The tournament is held at the ponds on the Don Gardner Par 3 golf course, adjacent to the Branson Community Center. All fish will be weighed and prizes will be awarded in each age group consisting of ages 3-6, 7-10 and 11-14.

Advance registration is required. Limit of 75 kids.

Trick or Treat at Branson RecPlex! Bring the whole family to this popular annual event.  Activities include the trick or treat maze, a haunted house, a hay ride, pumpkin carving, a costume contest, jumping inflatables and much more.

Breakfast With Santa

Santa Claus will be making a special stop this year at the Branson RecPlex. We will be serving a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk and coffee first and then a visit to Santa. All children will receive a gift from Santa. Parents are encouraged to bring their own cameras and kids should bring their Christmas lists to share with Santa. There will be two shifts of breakfast and visiting Santa, space is limited, so register early!! Walk ups only if space is available.
